BAD IGLOO LUST

Preview Thursday 15 April 6–9pm
Continues Friday 16 April – Sunday 2 May
Open Wednesday – Sunday 11–6pm

The Royal Standard’s next exhibition BAD IGLOO LUST asks the question: what does it mean to be a local or an international artist, if it means anything at all? BAD IGLOO LUST was originally created as a direct response to current exhibition Global Studio at the Bluecoat, in which The Royal Standard is also participating. Both shows will be showing at the same time, in a move directed at opening up a dialogue and cross-fertilisation between audiences at the two Liverpool art venues, in order to attempt to unravel the wider implications of being a ‘global’ artist.

Do all artists have the potential to be 'international'? The Directors of The Royal Standard have selected a cluster of high calibre artists, regardless of where they are from or where they are currently based. They may or may not have direct or indirect international links. The aim was to select artists producing fantastic, dynamic and engaging work, contenders to the crown of best UK or international artists working today. The participating artists are Yuko Nasu, Nick Cass, Pio Abad, Tim Foxon, Tom Varley, Michael White, Del Hardin Hoyle, Daniel Mort, Matthew Hahn.

BAD IGLOO LUST was conceived and curated by three of the brand new Directors of The Royal Standard: Sam Venables, Laura Robertson, and Natalie Hughes.
